Fireproof Safes

Fireproof safes help protect documents, cash, jewelry, and other valuables from heat and fire damage.

INKAS® offers fire-resistant safes for both residential and commercial use. You can choose models by security level, fire rating, and intended use.

Our current fireproof safe range includes 1-hour and 2-hour fire-rated options. Security levels range from Level 1 through Level 5.

Some models also combine fire protection with tested resistance against burglary attacks. This gives homes and businesses protection against more than one major risk.

Fireproof Safes for Home and Business

The right fireproof safe depends on where it will be used and what it will protect.

A home safe may hold passports, property papers, cash, jewelry, and other personal valuables. Business users may need space for contracts, records, cash, or other important assets.

INKAS® offers both residential and commercial fireproof safes. This makes it easier to compare options based on the intended setting.

Size is important, but it should not be the only factor. Buyers should also compare the fire rating, burglary protection, and security level.

Choose a Fireproof Safe by Fire Rating

A fire rating shows how long a safe is designed to protect its contents under specific test conditions.

The rating should not be confused with the outside temperature of a fire. It relates to the safe’s tested ability to control the temperature inside.

INKAS® currently offers fireproof safe options with 1-hour and 2-hour fire ratings.

1-Hour Fire-Rated Safes

A 1-hour fire rating means the safe has been tested for a shorter protection period than a 2-hour model.

This option may suit many residential or office needs. The right choice still depends on the contents being stored and the level of protection required.

For example, the INKAS® RSC-Rated Residential Burglary Safe provides one hour of fire protection. It is suitable for items such as passports, jewelry, and other personal valuables.

2-Hour Fire-Rated Safes

A 2-hour fire rating provides a longer tested protection period.

These models may suit users who want greater fire resistance for important or high-value contents.

The INKAS® Jupiter UL TRTL-30×6 Safe includes a 2-hour fire resistance rating. It also provides high-level burglary protection for high-value assets.

For a detailed explanation of fire classes and test times, see our Fire Safe Ratings guide.

Understanding Fire Safe Ratings

Fire-rated safes are tested according to maximum internal temperature and protection time.

INKAS® explains three main fire-rating classes: Class 350, Class 150, and Class 125. Each class is intended for contents with different heat limits.

Class 350 is commonly linked with paper documents, cash, and general valuables. Lower-temperature classes are intended for more heat-sensitive media and data.

This category page helps you choose a safe to buy. Our separate Fire Safe Ratings page explains the rating system in more detail.

What Can You Store in a Fireproof Safe?

The best safe depends on the contents you need to protect.

Common items stored in fire-resistant safes include:

  • Passports and personal records
  • Contracts and business papers
  • Cash and financial records
  • Property and ownership documents
  • Jewelry and personal valuables
  • Selected media and data storage devices

Different contents can require different internal temperature limits. Paper and sensitive digital media should not automatically be treated the same.

For this reason, check the fire class and duration before selecting a model.

Fireproof Safes and Burglary Protection

Fire resistance and burglary resistance are different types of protection.

A fire rating measures how a safe performs during fire testing. A burglary rating measures resistance against forced entry under set test conditions.

Some INKAS® models provide both.

For example, the RSC residential safe combines burglary protection with one hour of fire protection.

The Jupiter UL TRTL-30×6 combines a 2-hour fire rating with strong burglary resistance.

Other INKAS® fireproof category products include TL-15, TL-30, and TL-30×6 security models. These burglary ratings should not be read as fire durations.

If both threats are important, compare our Fire & Burglary Safes.

What Do TL-15 and TL-30 Mean?

Terms such as TL-15 and TL-30 refer to burglary resistance rather than fire protection.

INKAS® explains that the number relates to net working time during a tested attack. Net working time counts periods when attack tools are actively being used against the safe.

Burglary Rating Net Working Time Typical Use
TL-15 15 minutes Home or office valuables
TL-30 30 minutes Higher-value storage
TRTL-30 30 minutes Protection against tools and torches

A safe can have one burglary rating and a separate fire rating.

Always check both specifications when you need protection from theft and fire.

How to Choose the Right Fireproof Safe

Start by deciding what you need to protect.

Then compare the available models using several key factors:

  1. Fire rating. Choose the protection time that matches your needs.
  2. Type of contents. Paper, cash, jewelry, and digital media have different heat risks.
  3. Burglary rating. Look for separate tested security when theft is also a concern.
  4. Security level. INKAS® groups fireproof models across several security levels.
  5. Residential or commercial use. Select a model designed for the setting.
  6. Interior space. Allow enough room for current items and future storage.

INKAS® provides filters for security level, fire rating, and residential or commercial use.

These filters can narrow the range before you compare individual safe specifications.

Fireproof Safes for Residential Use

Residential fireproof safes provide secure storage for important items kept at home.

Passports, jewelry, financial papers, and personal records are common examples.

The RSC-Rated Residential Burglary Safe is one current INKAS® option. It provides residential burglary protection together with one hour of fire protection.

Higher security levels are also available when stronger burglary resistance is needed.

The best model depends on the value, size, and type of the contents being stored.

Commercial Fireproof Safes

Businesses may require larger capacity or stronger protection against forced entry.

Commercial users can store records, contracts, cash, and other important business assets inside an appropriate safe.

INKAS® offers commercial models within its fireproof safe range.

High-security options include models with TL-15, TL-30, TL-30×6, and TRTL-30×6 burglary ratings.

Fire protection should still be checked separately because burglary ratings do not define fire performance.

Fireproof Safe FAQs

What is a fireproof safe?

A fireproof or fire-resistant safe is designed to limit heat reaching the contents during a fire.

Actual protection depends on its tested fire class and time rating. These specifications matter more than the product name alone.

What is the difference between fireproof and fire-resistant safes?

Both terms are commonly used for safes designed to protect contents against fire and extreme heat.

When comparing products, focus on the stated fire rating and tested protection time.

Is a 1-hour fire rating enough?

A 1-hour rating may suit many homes and offices. However, there is no single rating that fits every situation.

Consider the contents, property type, required security, and available 2-hour options before choosing.

Do fireproof safes also stop burglars?

Not automatically.

Fire and burglary ratings measure separate risks. Choose a safe with an appropriate burglary rating when forced-entry protection is also required.

Are there fireproof safes for both homes and businesses?

Yes. INKAS® offers both residential and commercial models within its fireproof safe range.
